Last Minute Christmas Gift Guide
Dec 16, 2024Let's be honest, we've all been there - leaving the gift shopping till the last minute, or worse, realising at the last minute that you've forgotten to add someone to the gift list! And as you're rushing around trying to fix it, you tell yourself that you're going to be more organised next time! And let's be honest again...great intentions but do we really follow through (and hey, there's absolutely no judging here because I can be guilty of this too!)?
So because I feel your pain and want to help make this silly season a little less crazy for you, I'm going to share some of my go-to Christmas gift ideas (including ones for kids) that are still super easy to get, even if you've left it to the last minute! ;)
For adults:
1. Food and/or wine hamper (you can buy the items separately and make one yourself, or pick up a ready-made one from the shops).
2. Something beautiful for the home, eg Christmas hand towels, a Christmas-scented candle, or a special Christmas ornament.
3. A voucher/gift card but cater it to the recipient for a more personalised feel, eg if they love to read, get them a bookstore voucher; if they're a busy, stressed mum, get them a massage/spa voucher; if they're a DIY man, get a Bunnings voucher!
4. A self-care item eg pyjamas/sleepwear, bath/body products, a journal/diary/planner.
5. And of course, I wouldn't be me without having Christmas-themed baked goods on my list! Nothing is sweeter than a homemade gift, and brownie points if it's edible too (pun may be intended)! And speaking of brownies, they are the quickest and easiest option if you need something last minute - just dust with icing sugar for a snowy Christmas look and voila!
For kids:
As for kids gifts, unless you know them really well or have been told otherwise, these are my go-tos:
Ages 0-2: A plushie/soft toy or an educational/developmental toy
Ages 2-4: An educational toy or something that has sounds and/or lights eg a musical instrument, toy vehicles, dolls or animals that talk & move
Ages 5+: An age-related craft/DIY toy eg LEGO, magnetic tiles, DIY jewellery/decoration item/terrarium, etc.
And for ALL ages: BOOKS (as a bookworm since childhood, I am ALL for encouraging a love of books and reading)!
Bonus Tip:
If you're really in a rush, stores like Target, K Mart, Big W, Myer or David Jones will have pretty much ALL the items on my gift guide, so that will save you from having to go to different places to finish your shopping
I hope you found my Christmas Gift Guide super helpful, and the best part is that you could actually use it for any occasion/celebration, and not just Christmas! Meanwhile, do you have any go-to gift items that weren't on my list? Comment below and let me know because I'm always looking for new ideas (and bonus points if they're easy to do last minute too)!
